This image shows the Glenfinnan
monument to Bonnie Prince Charlie at the head of Loch Shiel.
It was here, in 1745 that the
Prince first raised his standard to begin the 1745 Jacobite
rebellion that ultimately led to his defeat by the Hanoverian
troops at the Battle of Culloden in April 1746.
